FREEDOM OF THE BOROUGH - LEYTON ORIENT FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED
The Council at its meeting on 25 May 2023 unanimously resolved to hold a Special Council Meeting to confer the Freedom of the Borough upon Leyton Orient Football Club Limited.

It was moved by Councillor Mitchell, seconded by Councillor N Asghar and RESOLVED unanimously that the Council notes that it is permitted to admit ‘persons of distinction’ and persons who have in the opinion of the Council ‘rendered eminent services to the Borough of Waltham Forest’ to be honorary freemen and freewomen of the Borough (Local Government Act 1972, Section 249 (5)).

The Council recognises the eminent services that Leyton Orient Football Club Limited have rendered to the Borough of Waltham Forest merit conferral of the honour of Freedom of the Borough. This Special Meeting of the Council has been convened for that purpose.

Council will move:

A. That pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972 Leyton Orient Football Club Limited be admitted as Honorary Freemen and Freewomen of the London Borough of Waltham Forest in recognition of the eminent services they have rendered to the Borough over many years and as an expression of the high esteem in which they are held by the Council.

B. That the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to the certificates to be presented to the said persons on their admission as Honorary Freemen and Freewomen of the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

In accordance with the Act, the Council may, by resolution passed by not less than two thirds of the Members voting thereon, at this Meeting of the Council specially convened for that purpose, admit to be an Honorary Freewoman or Freeman of the Borough any person of distinction or any person who has, in the opinion of the Council, rendered eminent services to the Borough.

FREEDOM OF THE BOROUGH - SAIRA BEGUM MIR
The Council at its meeting on 25 May 2023 unanimously resolved to hold a Special Council Meeting to confer the Freedom of the Borough upon Saira Begum Mir, Founder of PL84U AL-SUFFA.

It was moved by Councillor Mitchell, seconded by Councillor N Asghar and RESOLVED unanimously that the Council notes that it is permitted to admit ‘persons of distinction’ and persons who have in the opinion of the Council ‘rendered eminent services to the Borough of Waltham Forest’ to be honorary freemen and freewomen of the Borough (Local Government Act 1972, Section 249 (5)).

The Council recognises the eminent services that Saira Begum Mir has rendered to the Borough of Waltham Forest merit conferral of the honour of Freedom of the Borough. This Special Meeting of the Council has been convened for that purpose.

Council will move:

A. That pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972 Saira Begum Mir be admitted as Freewoman of the London Borough of Waltham Forest in recognition of the eminent services she has rendered to the Borough over many years and as an expression of the high esteem in which she is held by the Council.

B. That the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to the certificates to be presented to her on her admission as Honorary Freewoman of the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

The Council at its meeting on 25 May 2023 unanimously resolved to hold a Special Council Meeting to confer the Freedom of the Borough upon Martin Esom, Chief Executive of the London Borough of Waltham Forest

It was moved by Councillor Mitchell, seconded by Councillor N Asghar and RESOLVED unanimously that the Council notes that it is permitted to admit ‘persons of distinction’ and persons who have in the opinion of the Council ‘rendered eminent services to the Borough of Waltham Forest’ to be honorary freemen and freewomen of the Borough (Local Government Act 1972, Section 249 (5)).

The Council recognises the eminent services that Martin Esom has rendered to the Borough of Waltham Forest merit conferral of the honour of Freedom of the Borough. This Special Meeting of the Council has been convened for that purpose.

Councillor will move:

A. That pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972 Martin Esom be admitted as Honorary Freeman of the London Borough of Waltham Forest in recognition of the eminent services he has rendered to the Borough over many years and as an expression of the high esteem in which he is held by the Council.

B. That the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to the certificate to be presented to Mr Esom on his admission as Honorary Freeman of the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
